Background

The Ferryway School in Malden, Massachusetts will enter its second year as an Expanded Learning Time (ELT) public school funded through a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Education. The Ferryway School seeks to expand its use of classroom technology as part of a school-wide technology integration plan providing enrichment activities focused on building students 21st century skills. The team’s work will build upon the school’s prior successes integrating technologies such as wireless laptop computers, Student Response Systems, and web-based curriculum using professional development materials from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). The technology integration plan is designed to meet the goals of the Massachusetts Technology Literacy Standards, which are fully aligned, to the National Educational Technology Standards for Students.
